Here I am over at Khan's house for Patricia's birthday party!
This is Mr. Gilmer. He also teaches at the Towson Campus. He's a good friend; we've know each other since April 1999. He's our MS PowerPoint expert. It's amazing what he can do with that software! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ June 9, 2001 Skydive Delmarva
On June 9, 2001 my life changed forever! Marc and I got in the car and drove to Delaware so I could jump out of a plane. Yes, a perfectly good plane. I worked for over a year for that moment. I promised myself when I reached my goal weight that I would jump out of a plane. No one believed me ... not sure if they didn't believe I could lose over 130 lbs. or if I had the nerve to jump. Either way, I proved the world wrong! By any means necessary, I made it. It was the most exciting day of my life and I am not the same person. Every moment of that experience was better than expected. I jumped from 2 1/2 miles up (14,000 feet) and fell at a rate of approximately 250 miles per hour. What a rush!!! (No, I wasn't scared ... I was terrified!!) Each June, I plan on skydiving in tribute to my mother, Lucille. While growing up, she would often talk about how that was the one thing she always wanted to do - skydive and fly like a bird. She passed away June 8, 2000. A year and a day later on June 9, 2001, 130+ pounds lighter, I jumped with her over the farmland of Delaware. We both flew like birds that day -and now we both know why birds sing. |
